IREC researchers participate at the XI 10alamenos9 Festival
IREC is proud to take part in the 11th edition of 10alamenos9 Festival, the National event of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, held this year on Saturday, 9 May 2026 at the Museu de la Ciència CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.
The festival, which gathers some of Spain’s leading research centres and universities working in nanotechnology, is designed for family audiences and recommended for children aged 6 and over. This year’s programme — running from 11:00 to 20:00 — included a scientific escape room, interactive microscopy workshops, experimental stands, and researcher talks, all aimed at bringing the fascinating world of the nanoscale to life.
Two IREC researchers, Juan Carlos González-Rosillo from the Nanoionics and Fuel Cells Dept. and Amine Lwazzani from the Energy Storage, Harvesting and Catalysis dept. have participated in the Speaking Corner, sharing their work with the public in an engaging and accessible format. This activity brough young scientists face to face with visitors of all ages, offering an informal and dynamic space to discover what life in a research lab really looks like.
The nanometre — 10⁻⁹ metres, or one billionth of a metre — is the scale of our DNA, and the world where nanoscience and nanotechnology operate. At IREC, nanotechnology is a key tool in our research into advanced materials, energy storage, photovoltaics, and the broader energy transition.
